One of several books made while in the Cook Islands, New Zealand, and Australia. Â Sketchbook was handmade with watercolor paper, measuring 11.25″ x 6″ (22.5″ x 6″ when open). Most paintings done in watercolor and gouache.

Memories from hiking. On Queen Charlotte’s Track, the tree trunks were a dark green set against the green glow of the rest of the forest. While hiking on Mt. Oberon (Wilson’s Prom.), you could the new growth coming up around trees that had been burned in a recent fire.

The seagulls really loved this rock.
Everywhere else felt like it was over 100 degrees, but in the moss garden the steady waterfall and stream created a cool environment. So of course I decided to stay and paint here.
This was the narrow passageway that leads into the Amphitheater, also called the Clothes Washer as flash floods have been known to swirl fiercely around and tear out the walkway you can see at the bottom.
